Bases and hardware are individually manufactured and selected for each lamp and lighting fixture. Lamp bases include three Victorian ladies and Cherubs, to Pine Trees and Elk Antlers, and ceiling fixture hardware ranges from Stars and Mission styles to metal Deer and Bear silhouettes to Pond Lilies and Trout.
Lighting Hardware Measurement Considerations >
When selecting your lamp hardware, it’s essential to understand the distinction between Base Height and Overall Height.
Base Height: This term is generally used when one socket is featured with a harp. The harp is configured to match the depth of the shade, positioning the light bulb and hardware within the shade so they are less visible. Base Height refers to the measurement from the bottom of the lamp base to where the socket begins. It represents the fixed, non-configurable portion of the lamp base.
Overall Height: This term applies when there is a cluster of two or more sockets. Unlike single-socket configurations, there is less flexibility in positioning the shade over the socket assembly. These bases typically support larger shades, so this is less of a concern. Overall Height measures from the bottom of the base to the very top of the finial. It is used when the base cannot be easily adjusted to match the depth of the shade with which it is paired.
